Challenge #4: Why I scrapbook...

And here is what it says:
Why I Scrapbook.....
I had never scrapbooked (or did album-making as I like to call it), till a Friday night in December of 2002. Nick and I (and Jeffrey) were invited to our friend’s Kyle and Kelly Burdine’s house. Kelly had recently become a Creative Memories Consultant and was having a workshop. She introduced us to scrapbooking and we were hooked. Nick then signed up to be a Creative Memories Consultant and I signed up 6 months later. I am grateful she introduced us to this when she did. Jeffrey was only 6 months old when I started and I did not feel too behind in our family’s albums.
My family is the number one reason I scrapbook. Already my son and daughter love to see their pictures in our family’s books. And of course my husband appreciates it as well. And I know in the future, not only my children, but my grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other descendents can look at the albums I make for their personal family history. I am making this book for these future generations. I know that usually I do not take the time to go into depth in my journaling; this gives me that opportunity. Plus, because I am the primary picture taker, I am not in as many photos, so here is a chance for you to see me.
I am pretty much a simple pages scrapbooker. I like to spend twenty minutes or less on most of my pages. This is part of the reason I like being a CM consultant, because by limiting myself to their products, I feel it makes it easier to get a page done. I am also the kind of scrapbooker that likes to do everything at once. So I crop, mount, journal and enhance and then slap a page protector on – and very rarely take it off again. I enjoy both the creative part of album making along with getting my photos preserved for generations to come.
Last year (2004) was the first year I set a goal for number of pages completed. My goal was 204 pages done in 2004. I shattered that goal with 269.5 pages completed. So this year my goal is 205 pages in 2005. I know I can get more done – though only if I take enough pictures this year. I am usually no more then a month behind in my albums; and to make sure I stay that way I try to scrapbook every night that I do not have to get up early in the morning.

Book of Me - Internet

Challenge #3: Internet

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Again, here is what the typed part says (the logos will not transfer):
The Internet

I first started using The Internet in High School. I especially remember going downstairs on my parents’ computer in 12th grade (1996-1997). Early on I learned the basics of creating a webpage and created my home page at (www.geocities.com/Empress4). I also got my first personal email address at .com (the first part was changed when I got married, but otherwise I still have it). Then I went off to college and started using it to write research papers and other homework. About this time I came up with my perennial online nickname, Empress4. Empress because it was the name I saw in a book and 4 because it is my favorite number. When I started planning for my wedding to Nick I went to and other sites like that to come up with wedding ideas. Right before graduating college I started searching for full-time jobs online. It was because of .com that I got my first job at Initiative Media in May 2000. This is the time I started spending more time online. I found I could go to sites like .com and search all over the web. We then started going to real estate sites like to find our first house. When I was between jobs (April-May 2001) I hung out on the internet looking for new jobs; I also stumbled across .com and started chatting to the “Thinking of Conceiving” bulletin board. This is part of the reason I started planning on adding to our family. Through this bulletin board I met a bunch of ladies also trying to have a child, so we started a bulletin board and named ourselves Hip Mamas (to Be). We have all had one or two children and do not talk as much, but I still think of these ladies as my first online friendship. In December 2002, Nick and I became Creative Memories Consultants and I started going to almost daily to find out all I could about CM. And because of scrapbooking I found the website stampinscrappin.com; in September we became .com and I started spending most of my free time at this site. This is where I am today. I also frequent .com and .com for anything from news to their bulletin boards. I go to for news on two of my favorite Soaps Days and Passions. For news on NASCAR (especially Jeff Gordon) I go to . I go to .com to get directions to where I am going. I also go to many of the local TV stations sites (including the one for my company, ) for local news, weather and sports. I spend a lot of time on the Internet. I feel the Internet is one of the greatest inventions of my era. Now we can connect with others across the world, while finding out more information then we ever thought possible.

Book of Me - I am...

Challenge #2: I am...

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Here is what the typed part says:
I AM...

My most important and treasured roles are as WIFE and MOTHER. Wife because the love between spouses is so unique and special; Mother because children are perfect little miracles. And being a wife to Nick and a mother to Jeffrey and Samantha brings me so much joy. They may not realize it but I would not trade them for all the gold in the world.

Some of my first roles in life were as DAUGHTER and SISTER. I know that these have shaped who I am today. I have middle-older child syndrome – so I am always trying to make people happy. I know my parents – Ken & Terry Stein – enjoy that I have strived for independence. I also try to be a good sister to Carrie and Aaron.

I am an AUNT to my nephew Gage. I also have three step-nieces/nephew Brittney, Taylor and Madison. And I only hope some day that my brother marries and has children so I can be an Aunt to them.

I am a GRANDDAUGHTER, NIECE, COUSIN, IN-LAW... I have always been big into family. But as we get older and people move away we do not spend much time together. I also miss my role as a GREAT-GRANDDAUGHTER. Recently I lost my last Great Grandparent and it is hard losing that role.

I am a good FRIEND. As I have grown older, I feel I have become a better listener and I try to do a good job at it. I have also realized how much friendship means to me. And it is so easy to stay in touch – at least by emails.

I will always be a STUDENT. Even though I am not taking any formal education, I feel there are always new things to learn. And I strive to read and learn as much as I can. Maybe this is why I am so nosy.

I have always been an ANIMAL LOVER. I have owned fish, and my parents have a cat; now we have dogs (Mandi & Mollie). And while I would love a cat, Nick is allergic. So one day I will get a small dog

A role that I have a hard time changing is that of a COUCH POTATO and PROCRASTINATOR. I love television – maybe that is why I work at a TV station. We almost always have a TV on; though I will admit I watch it less with two kids to chase after. I also put things off way too much. Sometimes I try to change, but change is hard.

I am also an EMPLOYEE. At times I thought I would be a stay-at-home-mom. But I know that what is best that I work. And maybe one day I will trade in my FT job for being a SAHM.
